Sticks

Sticks walking around
Invisible,
Forgettable
Running in circles
Walking straight lines

Stick snapping,
Voice breaking,
Yes, it's happening

Tape at the heart
It can’t fall apart

Paint it over
Find a pretty cover
Buy the ribbons and bows
Force the joy, forget the woes

Stick lying on the ground
Stick lost in the crowd
No sound

Second chances

The war has ended
The blood on our lips has dried
There is no crushing sound
That jerks our souls anymore
Only memories,
That run with a vengeance
In dark dungeons

The scars run a mile deep
Into our heart of hearts
They provoke and undermine
They have always, right from the start

Here we are,
Naked and unsure
It may be cold,
And they may be clever
But we missed every bullet
We got through, we got out
We pushed, and we landed

Cheers to what we've snatched from life,
Amen for what was swiftly taken away

Though our houses may forever remain haunted,
Here's to stolen second chances!

Most of all

Courage, you kept
While running in a direction
That would never end
But you forgot
That you weren’t alone
I tied the laces on those shoes
And I kept the water bottles
At every junction
And now you run
Like you’ll never make it
Because you run
Like you’ve already made it

It’s unfair
To want you to be miserable
To want you to remember
The moments that led you off the cliff
I pushed you
Because I knew you’d never fall
And yet,
You run from me most of all

How you read

Abandoned words
come together
on this old
sheet of paper
Old friends unite
Old flames ignite

Surrendering to
a past unknown
Forgiving a
future untold

Godless
yet pious
The words
write themselves
While the pen hisses away,
Each emotion blinds and fades

Is this a story
or a poetry?
It all depends,
on how you read

All of them

It isn’t a normal day
I had company today
Bright vigilant eyes
Soaking mine

Peering so deep
All I could see was me

Alone he was
Scouting ins and outs
Alone I was
Oblivious, drifted and flawed

For a second, I could tell
He was me and I was all of them
